25K for a couples dinner? If your wife let's you spend that kind of dough on one night of political fundraising, you sir, are a 1%er. Glad to see the results of the poll attached to this story indicate it may be sparsely attended. In any case, well attended or no, I'll bet the food is going to rock!

I understand that Congressman Ryan grew up wealthy and has received large sums of family money. His wife recently inherited 5 million dollars. Thank goodness they better understand how regular people live compared to Mitt Romney. Will the top 1% look out for the rest of us? What about those who have worked hard to save and invest but still need Social Security and Medicare? The Republican party is really getting out of touch with regular people, women's issues and the older people.

I agree, it is almost like they are in some sort of a club, one that rakes us for $$$ then they sputter off into the sunset, laughing their way to Switzerland. He is totally out of touch with the reality a majority of Americans face thus he is not qualified to represent us.

More tax cuts for corporations and rich people won't "jump start the economy". Corporations are already sitting on a trillion dollars in cash, much of it a windfall from previous unnecessary tax cuts, and they still aren't hiring because consumer demand is insufficient. The richest One Percent, like Romney, are always doing fine.
There is no fast or easy way to revive the economy. Consumers and small businesses are digging out of debt. Until they're done, consumer spending, the engine that drives the economy, will be weak. No matter who the president is, the recovery is going to be slow.
The recovery could be accelerated by more stimulus spending, this time focused on job creation instead of tax cuts. But if the Republicans have their way, the focus will be solely on tax cuts and the deficit will go up anyway without creating any new jobs. Then we'll be right back where we were in 2008.

Ryan is poor compared with Romney. Hey, it is all relative, right?

But it can't touch Obama's $40,000 per plate dinner.I guess you didn't hear about that one. Or just forgot.

I talked to a Democrat acquaintance and he admiitted that Ryan really causes him concern because he is such a formidable choice. For once I am enthusiastic about Romney; great choice.

That is kind of what I was thinking, Bob. Big money in politics is the norm and further strengthened by the SCOTUS's Citizens United ruling.

Re: Article Discussion: Ryan to speak in Lakewood; second solo c
Has anyone done a side-by-side comparison between the "Ryan plan" and that offered by President Obama? I'd really like to see that. Maybe if we could see those two plans side-by-side we could find some common ground and start making some changes.
I know people are saying Ryan's plan is too radical and I understand that reaction (from what I've read about the plan so far) but we need something radical. Maybe Ryan doesn't have the answer but status quo might also be called the slow death. Whatever we, as a country decide to do it's got to be radical or we are going to end up like Greece. The big difference is the degree of influence our economy has on the entire world.
I think the $25k per plate dinner is standard for presidential races. I wonder if I could go and just bring my own plate, I bet the food would be awesome. Maybe I can pull a Dan Akroyd and dress as Santa Claus to sneak in.

Ryan grew up rich and still collected survivor benefits from Social Security from his fathers death and used that money for college. Now he wants to kill the programs he benefited from. Another do as I say not as I do hypocrite.

And O'Bummer's constituency was poor and now they are even poorer! Unemployment among people under 25 is 23.1%. Unemployment among blacks is 15%. Do you liberals have some serious self-hatred problems or something?

"Romney will jump-start economy"
according to what I understand, Romney will cut taxes on the rich... doesn't quite equal jump-starting the economy. Also, I do not think that the rich people are suddenly going to become pro-social and as a hive mind "jumpstart" the economy. Isn't there that saying that you can't make a horse drink?
Who am I fooling though, those guys with the moola are way ethical, re: history.
