Outstanding article and on the money. You can't do more than Gradishar did. And he had the class to step away after 10 years when he could still play, but couldn't play quite at the top level he demanded. He should have been a first ballot hall of famer.

All I thought was that this is straight out of the Treasure of Sierra Madre. To paraphrase Gold Hat: "Strategy? We ain't got no strategies. We don't need no strategies! I don't have to show you any stinkin' strategies!"
Good thing obama and congress earlier in the year, due to the sequester, cut 500 wildland firefighters, 50 wildfire engines, cut the air tanker repair budget, and the elite vandenburg hotshots crew, the only shots crew that was owned by DOD.
""Now I turn a little bit (in the delivery) to make (it harder) for the hitter to see the pitch early," Rogers said. "The confidence Gibby and Pete (Walker, the pitching coach) are giving to me right now is unbelievable. The confidence when I am on the mound, I didn't have that when I was in Colorado; I don't want to lie to you. I've got an unbelievable confidence right now"
Our justice system works in strange ways sometimes. If the actual perpetrator is not available lets just start suing until we find one that sticks. I don't know about you but if a 911 operator tells me to drive back to where I was just threatened I'm telling them or anyone else to stick it and I'll just drive straight to the police station. Sounds to me like the victim and the 911 operator both made mistakes and the actual murderer walks free without consequence.

I wonder if Karzai will end up like Thieu? Is Kerry smarter (or even as smart as) than Kissinger? At least these talks do not seem to be a secret from Karzai, so perhaps history was learned by some. If most want specificity in the laws to try and prevent both the criminal and noncriminal, as Holmes, Lonza, et al, were, from carrying out mass murder or domestic violence, then I have to ask, "is the NRA ready to fully back what will be limits to their individual liberties or will they take the blind, fear of incrementalism path and avoid backing detailed, specific laws to prevent the mentally ill and criminal from getting guns?"
To throw your hands up and simply parrot the same old spew about not needing new laws or that no law will prevent this and that, is just buying into the fact that we now protect individual liberties to the extent that we allow both the criminal and noncriminal to step on the civil rights of many others, as Holmes and Lonza clearly did, even after being ID'd as mentally ill. Gun advocates and others have a very strong case in wanting real teeth and enforcement in penalizing gun crimes, of which I am concerned that many Dems are simply afraid of in their ideological desire to save those on death row and their stance on other issues. I believe we can find a common ground but face it, those on the left and right extremes will have to flex to do this.

{quoted text} While Webb didn't pick the DIA site, the point here is that he did play a major role in deciding where Denver's airport would be located. As you may recall, Webb started out as a DIA opponent, then changed sides soon after taking office. If he had stuck to his original position, Denver's airport would still be at Stapleton.
Unfortunately, I think the main reason Webb warmed to the DIA site was that he saw the opportunity to wield tremendous political power by selectively handing out DIA contracts. I had no objection to Denver's eventual naming of an office building in Webb's honor, but in a just world, the building would have been called "Denver Pay To Play Center."
